RapidScale’s move will improve customer speeds and reduce latency by at least 10 fold.
[Irvine, CA: July 14, 2016] RapidScale, a managed cloud services provider, has announced their completion of upgrading to NetApp All Flash FAS from legacy FAS platforms. The move is a result of RapidScale’s continuous business expansion and the need for an even more robust solution that can handle increasing I/O performance demands and high-volume customers. As a result, RapidScale vetted multiple solutions and ultimately chose NetApp as their provider.
NetApp All Flash FAS helps to accelerate database transactions and virtual desktop response times by up to 20x. It also allows RapidScale to deliver a high-performance experience to customers residing on solutions such as CloudServer (IaaS) and CloudDesktop (DaaS). RapidScale serves as a provider for organizations of all sizes, as well as in many industries. Flash storage has allowed RapidScale to provide those customers with a more competitive solution and better performance than they would otherwise experience. Instead of picking and choosing high-I/O workloads to move to flash storage, RapidScale moved all its customers’ production environments to NetApp AFF8060 systems to drive down latency in all four of its data centers.
“Delivering a high-performance experience to customers makes us more competitive,” says RapidScale CTO, William Hiatt. “We’ve accelerated database transactions and virtual desktop response times up to 20x by moving to NetApp All Flash FAS. We view ‘all flash, all the time’ as a competitive differentiator for us against public cloud and other managed cloud providers. Moving to NetApp All Flash FAS made a lot of sense from a business standpoint, and it also helps our technical teams because they don’t have to spend time tuning individual workloads for optimal performance.”
NetApp All Flash FAS also allows customers to experience unparalleled performance when dealing with demanding workloads such as databases and electronic medical records. It also helps to eliminate the need for performance tuning at the storage layer, reclaiming valuable engineering time. Because RapidScale is not limited to a specific business size or vertical, they need the ability to support any type of customer with ease and efficiency. Flash storage makes it both efficient and affordable with their deduplication and compression abilities to ensure that every customer has an exceptional experience.
“Service providers like RapidScale need to cost effectively deliver better performance and advanced data services to their customers to be more competitive,” said Adam Fore, Director, Product and Solutions Marketing, NetApp. “Our All Flash FAS solutions enable RapidScale to provide ultrafast access and rich data services to their customers with the industry’s most efficient and comprehensive storage and data management solution.”
RapidScale’s key differentiator is their ability to provide a white-glove service to their customers that includes customized cloud migration roadmaps, dedicated project managers for migrations and implementations, and 24x7x365 domestic support. RapidScale’s key focus is around ensuring the customer’s experience is above and beyond their expectations – from the sales process to implementation to ongoing account management and support. RapidScale provides customers with fully managed cloud solutions including CloudDesktop (DaaS), CloudServer (IaaS), CloudRecovery (DRaaS) and CloudBackup. They have three U.S.-based data centers located in Irvine, CA, Sterling, VA, and Dallas, TX. They also have a global expansion program that takes them into Asia and EMEA.
